Yoga Retreat Holidays

strength, balance, peace

Take yoga from the comfort of your own home to Skyros’ breathtaking landscapes with one of our yoga holidays. What better way to relax into the day than freeing the mind, strengthening the body and lifting the spirit – the physical benefits of yoga are myriad.

When some people think of yoga, they think of people doing strange poses whilst standing on their head, contorting their bodies into the most unusual shapes and positions. But don't be intimidated. Yoga offers lots of different movements and sequences to suit every age, body shape, and ability. It can be done by people with physical disabilities as well as people who are extremely fit and flexible.

The poses are a constant, but the approach to them varies depending on the tradition in which the teacher has been trained. But whatever the tradition, the Skyros yoga retreat courses are facilitated by many outstanding teachers who will accommodate both the more learned of students and those with little experience of yoga.

Yoga is only one of the many holiday activities on the idyllic island of Skyros in Greece. Atsitsa Bay offers as many as fifteen courses per day and always includes yoga twice a day. Holiday activities also include windsurfing, art, dance, music and much more. Those staying at the Skyros Centre in the village enjoy early morning yoga before their mid-morning courses of either the Writers' Lab or Health & Wellbeing. Late afternoon Music & Arts courses are also offered at the Skyros Centre.

Yoga weekends are also available at The Grange in the Isle of Wight, UK.

‘Before I went, people said to me 'things happen on Skyros'. I felt that you couldn't go somewhere with that kind of expectation but, emotionally and spiritually, the impact of the holiday was enormous. It was inspiring. Surprising. More than I could have expected. Against the odds - namely my own cynicism, doubts and reserve - I gained an insight into me and the way I want to live my life.’ Body & Soul Escapes
