Working with Skyros Holidays in Greece 2024

Are you a sociable, flexible, team player who enjoys looking after people and not afraid of a bit of hard work? Do you want to work in a beautiful environment (that can also get quite hot)? How about spending a season with us on Skyros island, looking after our holiday participants and getting to know a beautiful Greek island.

You may have already been on one of our wonderful holidays and noticed the people working behind the scenes. It may have appealed to you. Or you might have thought of someone who it might suit.

We have roles available to join our established team – these are key to the smooth running of our two centres in Greece: the Skyros Centre in the Skyros village and Atsitsa Bay.

Administrative Roles at the Skyros Centre:

Administrator – You need to be strong in admin skills and accounts and an excellent communicator. In the smaller community of the Skyros Centre, you need to be empathic and flexible in order to take good care of our participants. Speaking some Greek, or being willing to learn, is good in the Greek village environment. You also need to be willing to collaborate in a small team.

Administrative Roles in Atsitsa:

You will be joining an established Manager to work as part of our Admin Team.

Office Assistant – You will support the manager in covering the general running of the office. This will be a varied role and you will need to be very organised, with a good eye for detail and logic. You will maintain and stock the office, assist with guest queries, source teaching materials, update spreadsheets, take card payments and support the admin team with day-to-day tasks. Previous experience in customer-facing administration is essential as is a positive and friendly attitude.

Transfer Administrator – As the Transfer Administrator you will be responsible for organising all domestic travel arrangements for the arriving and departing guests. This will include collating all information provided ahead of arrival to organise each person’s journey to and from the island. You will always need to be one step ahead ensuring all information is available to you ahead of time. You will liaise with the Head Office in the UK and with the Transfer Representative on the mainland to ensure the smooth arrival of all the guests. You will also be responsible for organising and facilitating the on-island excursions.

Housekeeper – As a housekeeper, you will be responsible for the presentation of the site. This is a physically demanding and varied role supporting the work scholars in all daily cleaning and laundry. In addition to the day or day, you will be responsible for managing the practical deep clean and changeover each weekend. You will need to be physically fit, organised, with a good eye for detail. Being an encouraging team leader is essential, as is previous experience in housekeeping and leading a team.

Bar Administrator – To oversee the day-to-day running of the onsite bar. You will be responsible for all ordering and be able to account for all spending and follow the proper cash-up procedure each day. You will be largely operational in the bar allowing you to come up with some exciting ideas to provide the best experience. Experience in events and a keen interest in music would be ideal as you will need to act as host for any evening activities in the bar.

All administrators fully participate in the admin team and take turns as Duty Manager. A clean driving licence, first-aid certificate or Greek language skills are a bonus.

Work Scholar Roles in Atsitsa:

Work Scholars – Our team of work scholars are responsible for keeping the site running and ready for guests. As a work scholar, you will rotate between housekeeping, kitchen, and bar. Stamina is required as the work is often physically demanding and will involve long hours in the Greek sun. The role is varied and can range from serving drinks in the bar, clearing up after meal times, laundry, assisting in the kitchen or setting up equipment for a course. Aside from the day-to-day, all work scholars are involved in the deep clean and changeover each weekend as we say goodbye to one set of guests and prepare for the next. You will need excellent team working skills, take pride in everything you do and be prepared to get involved. That being said, it is a fantastic opportunity to spend time in a very unique place and full training is given. Work scholars have the opportunity to be able to join in Atsitsa's courses and activities.

Health & Beauty Therapist in Atsitsa:

The onsite therapist is on hand to offer treatment sessions for the guests throughout their stay. You should be qualified and experienced in a range of treatments such as Swedish massage, facials, manicures, and pedicures. You must be hard-working, able to adapt to the environment and experience working in hot climates will be a plus.

Handyman in Atsitsa:

The role is to support our local staff in maintaining and repairing any issues that arise on-site. Full training of the site will be provided however you will need to have experience in joinery, plumbing and electrics. As the handyman, you will be the first to assess any issues that are reported and will be confident to decide if it can be managed on-site, or requires a professional. You will also have daily tasks that ensure the smooth running of the site.

Childcare in Atsitsa:

Children are welcome to join on specific sessions each year (for approximately 6 weeks). For this, we require an experienced team member to look after them while their parents take part in the courses. As our dedicated childcare, you will organise activities that would be suitable for children ranging from five to fifteen years old. This should include on-site activities and walks/beach visits to accommodate all needs. Being able to form good relationships with the parents is equally as important as being creative and putting together a good programme for the children. The number of children in your care can vary but will be no more than twelve at one time. Previous experience with children is essential and you should have all the necessary checks before starting.

All jobs are available from May until the end of September. Twin shared accommodation, meals and spending money are provided.

Work scholars receive a modest weekly income as well as the opportunity to attend courses with world-class facilitators in a wide variety of courses – that is the ‘scholar’ part. You would need to cover your own travel costs. Administrators get a higher stipend and return flights paid on completion of your contract, but do not attend courses.

To apply, send your CV and an introductory letter explaining why you would like to join us to jobs@skyros.com. You may also accompany your application with a recent photo.
