Skyros offers art courses at both centres in Greece - Atsitsa Bay and The Skyros Centre and Skyros HQ, The Grange by the Sea in the UK. God may or may not be beauty and creativity, but Skyros island definitely is! You can see in the beautiful Atsitsa Bay where more than three thousand years ago Odysseus landed to take young Achilles to the long Trojan war! Inspired by the breathing of the pine trees, the whispers of the nocturnal sea or the memories of rocks blessed with the wisdom of so many generations, people embark on a serene, inspirational journey that takes them beyond the boundaries of their imagination. The beautiful images they create, with help from our facilitators, through their unexplored inner landscapes make them proud of a creativity some never suspected they possess! Courses in painting & sketching, watercolours, mosaics, photography and more are open to both beginners and those who would like to develop their skills further. They are facilitated by our highly qualified professional teachers who offer support both within the group and individually. And all this within a community of very friendly people, united by the universal language of the heart and ready to share experiences, views and ideas. It is like a dream come true. At the Skyros Centre, the village offers a visual environment of inspiring beauty and a huge variety of subject matter to explore, from expansive panoramas of sea and sky to intimate winding lanes and courtyards. Art courses materials are provided, but participants may want to bring with them sketchbooks, pencils and a sharpener, mixing palette, brushes, their preferred paints, canvases or paper and their digital camera. Skyros attracts mostly solo travelling guests from all over the world. Although all ages are represented, approximately 70% are between 35 and 65. The Skyros Centre is set in the stunning hillside village, with panoramic views of the hills and the sea. Stay in traditional Skyrian rooms or by the sea. Twin shared occupancy is including in the price or book single occupancy. Choose your Writers' Lab course in advance. Your course will run mid-morning for three hours per day, five days per week. Morning Yoga drop-in classes are open to all. Meals are half board - usually breakfast and lunch but sometimes dinner instead - and served as a buffet. All diets are catered for. Tell us your preference when you book. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. 07.15: Morning drop-in classes Temperatures in June range between 20 degrees and 28 degrees Celcius. What's included? To travel to Skyros Island you must go to Athens. We have organised transfers from Athens (detailed below) to take the stress out of your journey. Domestic Travel (Athens – Skyros, return) Flights to Skyros island are limited so we recommend booking as soon as possible with Aegean Airlines. For this session we recommend – If the flight to Skyros sells out for these dates we will organise an overland transfer. International Travel (to/from Athens) For those arriving in Athens on the 8th June we have an organised transfer including an overnight stay in Central Athens. If many arrive into Athens at a similar time we will arrange a courtesy coach (minimum numbers required) departing Athens Airport to the hotel where you can relax and meet others joining the session. The following day the bus will return to Athens Airport in time for the flight to Skyros. To join this transfer, select Single/Twin Share at the Dorian, Transfer to Athens Airport & Transfer to Skyros Centre when booking. For those arriving in Athens on the 9th June you will only require a transfer from Skyros Airport to the Skyros Centre. To secure this please select Transfer from Skyros Airport to Skyros Centre only when booking. We recommend allowing at least two hours in Athens Airport by booking an international return flight after 6.20pm on 16th June. Art Holidays
