Screenwriting with Catherine Williams
Sun 2 - Sun 9 Jun 2024
All stories start with a ‘what if?’… Whether you already have a screenplay in progress, or there’s an idea bubbling in your head, or you’re waiting for one to pop, a week of workshopping, writing and sharing will be a huge step towards exploring the ‘what if?’ and making it a bit more real.
About Catherine Williams
Catherine Williams is a screenwriter, script editor and series creator, with an impressive list of Bafta-winning, top-rating and much loved kids and family credits to her name, including Lovely Little Farm, Chip and Potato, Waffle the Wonder Dog, Topsy + Tim, the New Teletubbies, Shaun the Sheep, Andy and the Band, Bing, PJ Masks and many many more. She has written 100s of hours of silly, heartfelt stories for children (of all ages).
As well as knowing everything there is to know about butterflies, bubbles and balloons, Catherine is also a single parent and knows only too well how important it is to carve out time for your own creativity, and indulge in a bit of intense ‘what if?’-ing from time to time. She has written several feature screenplays, is a regular speaker at film and TV conferences, and has also been known to perform stand-up.
Her work and process is all about world-building and rule-breaking. Whether you’re writing a 10 minute script for 5 year olds or a 90 minute feature for grown ups, the same elements come into play: theme, character, world, tone, desire, conflict… and well, play - so let’s play ‘what if?’!
