Activities at Atsitsa Bay, Greece

The Art of Swimming with Phil Tibenham

Sat 27 - Fri 9 Sep 2022

Phil’s teaching methods complement practices such as Yoga and T'ai Chi, as the core of the teaching is based on body awareness and technique. He focuses on unlearning habits that lead to better technique, more efficient, graceful (and faster) swimming.

The emphasis is on an engaged approach to swimming, encouraging the swimmer to understand their own interaction with the water.

Phil is in the water for the majority of the lesson and offers hands on guidance.

What's included?

Phil's course is held in Atsitsa Bay on Skyros island in Greece and is part of the wide range of courses and activities available. The holiday includes full board twin shared accommodation in an eco-hut. Single upgrades and twin shares in the house are available. Chat through the website, call +44 (0)1983 86 55 66 or email to discuss your requirements. Find out more about this holiday here.

About Phil Tibenham

Phil has taught the Shaw Method of swimming for more than 20 years.

He has recently been invited as one of twenty selected coaches to train with world-renowned company Swim Smooth, who are at the forefront of current swimming thinking.

Phil is based at The Laboratory Spa in Muswell Hill (health club of the year 2013/4). His clients range from non-swimmers to competing triathletes, and from the age of 4 to people in their 80's.

He has taught on holidays in Crete, Egypt, Morocco, Italy and has run workshops all over the UK.

Phil is a keen Open Water swimmer, recently completing the iconic Brownsea Island 7km, Dart 10km and Henley to Marlow14km, Bridge to Bridge, marathon swims.  He loves to swim in the Thames in The Cotswolds whenever possible.

He has helped people make the transition from pool to their first triathlon swims. He particularly enjoys the great interaction and feedback from the pupils in group classes.

He says that the greatest reward from teaching is helping people take on their own particular challenge and develop a true connection with the water.

Phil holds a full ASA level 2 teachers certificate and a Diploma in Aqua Health and Development. He also has an up to date CRB check.
