Holiday Facilitators: Sue Devenish Meares

skill, experience, warmth

Biography

Sue is a yoga & meditation teacher and portrait/yoga photographer - she believes in helping people to connect more with their inner selves, and also to feel confident and comfortable to radiate that out to the camera lens!

Sue has been practising and teaching yoga for over ten years and she strongly believes it should be accessible to anybody. Her style is inclusive, accessible, gentle and mindful, with strong encouragement for students to vary the postures to suit them, not their neighbour. The physical aspects of her classes are ultimately a moving meditation.

She also has many years’ experience of teaching English as a foreign language, alongside other varied roles such as working on board cruise ships, photographing fancy houses in London and voice artist work.

She lives in London with a great many plants and likes to keep her sanity with walks in the woods, saying hello to any dogs she passes.

What people say about Sue’s yoga and meditation classes:

From the moment I walked into her class, her calming, positive and welcoming energy set the perfect atmosphere for the practice. Sue is a truly fantastic and mindful yoga teacher; she is also a lovely person and has an amazing sense of humour, highly recommended to anyone. - Annette

Sue manages to perfectly balance a mindful yet playful approach to yoga that is both relaxing and uplifting, and at times unexpectedly challenging. - Lou

Why I love Sue’s classes: in short, I love how I feel after the class and that stays with me for the rest of the day. She is always such a wonderful, strong, energising presence and she encourages movement exploration and deeper meditative practice. - Joan

International Travel (to/from Athens)

  • OUT: Arrive to Athens Airport on or before 12.35pm on the 18th of August in time to catch the connecting flight to Skyros. Many choose to arrive the day before (on the 17th August) for a more relaxed journey.

For those arriving in Athens on the 17th August we have an organised transfer including an overnight stay in Central Athens. If many arrive into Athens at a similar time we will arrange a courtesy coach (minimum numbers required) departing Athens Airport to the hotel where you can relax and meet others joining the session. The following day the bus will return to Athens Airport in time for the flight to Skyros. To join this transfer, select Single/Twin Share at the Dorian, Transfer to Athens Airport & Transfer to Atsitsa when booking.
