Writing Courses

A space to write, reflect and grow

At Skyros, writing is part of the wider holiday experience: time away from everyday demands, space to listen to yourself, and the encouragement to put words on the page.

Our writing courses take place at the Skyros Centre, Atsitsa Bay and The Grange by the Sea, with programmes for both new and experienced writers. Whether you arrive with a project in progress, an idea you want to explore, or simply a desire to begin, you’ll be guided by experienced writers and facilitators in a supportive group setting.

Depending on the programme, courses may include life writing, fiction, memoir, poetry, comedy writing, creative process and writing for personal insight. The emphasis is on encouragement, craft, discovery and finding your own voice.

Skyros has a long association with writers and writing. Over the years, authors including Steven Berkoff, Margaret Drabble, Hilary Mantel and Sue Townsend have shared their work and experience with Skyros participants.

You may come for the course, the island, the company or the time to yourself. Very often, it’s the combination that helps the writing begin.
