Fri 2 Oct - Sun 4 Oct 2020 (2 nights)

At a glance

Comedy, like any other art, is a craft. There are tips and techniques to be learnt. Simply put, if you can understand comedy grammar then unlocking the funny ideas becomes easier. From finding your creative inspiration to learning the building blocks of humour, this workshop will help you discover your unique comic voice.

Although a writing course, there would be some non-writing exercises designed to encourage the participant’s creativity. There would also be writing games with group feedback and tutor led suggestions to help you hone your comedy writing skills. By the end of the course you will know how to write comedy and will have the confidence to stand up on your own and make a group of total strangers laugh.

Not only will you learn some tricks of the trade, you will also gain a greater awareness of the multitude of differing comic styles that the group manifest. These comedy skills aren’t only for the professional; they are also a fantastic way to think outside of the box, hone your communication skills and increase your confidence in everyday life.

More importantly, you will laugh loads over the entire course.

About

Skyros attracts mostly solo travellers from all over the world. Although all ages are represented, approximately 70% are between 35 and 65. The Grange is a stunning Georgian country house, surrounded by greenery and close to Shanklin's sandy beach, cosy pubs and restaurants and the local train station.

Accommodation

Share a room with a friend or family member or choose single occupancy of a room. The supplement for single occupancy is £50 for two nights.

Inspiring Courses

Your course weekend includes six hours of tuition across two days. This leaves plenty of time to explore the island on coastline walks or enjoy health and beauty treatments (book these in advance). Courses take place outdoors wherever possible and 'households' are socially distanced from each other by 2m. If held indoors social distancing of 2m will be in place or, if 1m plus, risks will be mitigated with the use of face coverings.

Food & Drink

Holidays are inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals are taken outdoors where possible. If indoors, tables are distanced from each other with more than one sitting. You can 'buddy up' with another individual or household for mealtimes if you choose. Table service will be in place. Packed lunches are provided as per hospitality guidance at this time.
