Our Skyros-in-Cuba holiday includes 10 nights accommodation at the famous 5-star Habana Libre hotel in Havana. There are two in-depth courses available in November. Choose from either Salsa partnered with local Cuban dance partners, or Photography with Julian Doyle, as well as early morning yoga and talks on Cuban History & Culture. The holiday includes sumptuous breakfast buffets, two evening meals and a half day city tour.

Participants are welcome to attend a gentle pre-breakfast Yoga class in the mornings. Primarily aimed at beginners or recent beginners, the class is a great way to start the day. Wear loose comfortable clothing. Yoga mats are provided.
John Harris has worked with Skyros in numerous capacities since 1999. He is a renowned international Latin dance teacher who regularly teaches at Skyros in Greece and California's Esalen Institute.
John is also a Hatha Yoga instructor and Life Coach and has lead 12 Skyros in Cuba holidays. He is well known for teaching Yoga to the non-Yogic and anyone who wouldn't normally be seen in corpse pose. His highly accessible style is suitable for adults of all ages.
Over the years he has built up considerble knowledge of Life in Havana and a great team in Havana who support him and make this holiday a truly unique experience.
Rita Ojeda assists John with all the local arrangements including the Cuban history and culture course. She is a bi-lingual travel guide who works for the Cuban Government. Rita will work together with John to ensure you have a memorable holiday and an authentic Cuban experience.
Havana is the perfect place to learn Cuba's national dance - Salsa. Our authentic Cuban style Salsa classes are facilitated by one of Havana's top Salsa dance professors. Held in a beautiful venue with murals and floor to ceiling glass doors our in Hotel dance 'studio' is adjacent to the Hotel's pool with loads of natural light and a cooling breeze. There will be six, 2 hour salsa classes held in the evenings between 5 - 7pm, the classes are suitable for beginners but we can cater for more advanced students if you inform us beforehand.
We provide experienced local Cuban dance partners for each student for every lesson in order to mentor your Salsa and ensure a high quality learning experience. Outside of the structured class times there will be optional excursions to Salsa clubs and bars where you can dance with local Cubans and listen to great live Cuban music.
Rolando Gonzales, a native of Havana City, has been dancing Salsa since he was 5 years old. He holds a degree in English and in addition to teaching Salsa to groups from all around the world he works in the Library at Havana's main hospital.

This truly unique series of walks and talks held for about 1 hour before lunch gives you a preview of contemporary life in Cuba and the history of this amazing culture and takes you off the usual tourists routes. It is usually possible to visit local shops and markets where Cubans purchase their Goverment subsidised food and supplies including local organic fruit and vegetable markets.
Other places of interest can include an Afro Cuban neighbourhood, the residence of Hose Fusta (Cuba's leading ceramic artist), The Nacional Hotel, Earnest Hemmingway's house, University of Havana. You will also enjoy the half day city tour that is held on day 2 and takes in the greater Havana area by coach and a walking tour around old Havana followed by dinner.
Rita has beeen working as a tour organiser for 10 years and as a facilitator for groups visiting Cuba, arranging visits and providing the visitors with information on history as well as insight on today's life in Cuba. She collaborates with a Cuban NGO which focuses on social and educational projects within the local communities in Havana.

Julian is a British film maker who is best known for editing Monty Python’s Life of Brian and also for shooting the special effects for Terry Gilliam’s Brazil. He has directed the films Love Potion (1987), about a drug rehabilitation centre, and Chemical Wedding(2008), an occult thriller starring Simon Callow which he wrote with Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson. He has also written Twilight of the Gods, a play about the relationship between Wagner and Nietzsche which was performed at the Edinburgh Festival and directed music videos, including those for Kate Bush’s Cloudbusting and Iron Maiden’s hit Can I Play with Madness. His latest book The Life of Brian/Jesus (Dec 2010) is billed as the book that will ruin Christmas! Julian teaches at the London Film Academy.
