Living Maps / Salsa Sat 29 May - Sat 5 Jun 2010 AT3
Living Maps This unique and liberating approach to revealing and working with the hidden dynamics that underlie personal issues has emerged from the philosophy of the German Family Systems therapist Bert Hellinger. It offers resolutions to the many and varied issues, presented by group members and often achieves this goal quicker than most conventional approaches. In a Living Maps or Constellations workshop, under the guidance of the facilitator, group members are carefully placed in a specifically relevant constellation to create a living map of the client's issue and the important elements that surround it. By looking at and working with the relational dynamics apparent in the client’s system blockages are brought to light and solutions are shown that bring about peace and healing for everyone involved.

This course will largely be devoted to practical exercises and processes and related feedback, geared to developing freedom, mindfulness, passion and a sense of adventure in relation to the experience of drawing. This will be an exciting and very enjoyable process, whilst also inevitably touching on some of those feelings of self-doubt, inhibition and impossible standards that tend to get in the way for both beginners and experienced practitioners.
Drawing as Freedom from ‘Getting it Right’
By the time we reach adulthood, and often well before, most of us have lost confidence in our natural birthright as artists. We have been convinced that draughtsmanship is to do with ‘getting it right’, and have had repeated demoralising experiences of ‘getting it wrong’. In fact, creativity, in drawing as in life, has little to do with this kind of superficial competence and much to do with getting comfortable with mess, play, exploration and process. During the first session, a series of exercises (variously involving brainstorming, sharing, writing and mark making) will allow participants to explore
• their beliefs about ‘making art’ and about themselves that stand in the way of a spontaneous engagement with materials and visual experience
• how to get comfortable with and enjoy making a mess
• how to see creative opportunities and the potential for beauty in creative chaos
• how to shift the emphasis from ‘product’ to ‘process’, and from ‘criticism’ to ‘curiosity’

Your body is worth a journey of exploration - because it could tell you so much of interest to you, if only you would allow yourself to pay attention and listen to it! Your body’s many signals can tell you reliably what really interests you, delights you, bores you, turns you on - and off - and frightens you. All you need is just a little help to learn the signals, to recognize the energetic markers, to allow the movements to lead you to the information readily available in you and to you. And in so doing, to truly befriend yourself!

Digital cameras are great! ..But what do all those symbols mean on the knobs and buttons, and why can't I take a decent close-up shot? ..And what do all those numbers on the lens mean? And why don't distant things come out properly, even with the flash? ..And how do I take sunsets? ..they don't look anything like the real thing! And the instruction book is utterly incomprehensible!
Ring any bells? I'll be de-mystifying it all!
We'll cover how to choose a camera if you're aiming to buy one - and also how to get the very best out of a camera you've already bought! We'll do pictures outdoors, and pictures indoors, at parties or in dim light. How to take better pictures without flash. Taking portraits, and holiday snaps, and movie-making with an ordinary camera. And we'll look at cameras which still take film ..so it's a course for everyone. If you've ever been dissatisfied with your photos, this is where to come to shoot masterpieces!
Last year's course in Atsitsa (Skyros, Greece) was so popular that I had to do it all over again! ..so book now to be sure of a place. It's for beginners, and advanced photographers, too. But if you just can't get the hang of your camera ..here's where it all comes clear..
Bring your own, or use one of ours, and discover how creative you actually are!
David Babsky, formerly Technical Editor of Practical Photography magazine, has taught photography and movie-making. Bring your own camera and a head full of creative ideas, and watch them come to life!
Most of us spend a great deal of time, energy and money on our appearance. Those who don't have often given up on what seems like an impossible task. The secret of successful dressing and wardrobe management lies in wearing and buying clothes that reflect YOU, your personality, body shape and your colouring. In my workshop we will look at "what is image" "what makes up image" and "why is image significant". We take a look at Body Language & Communication styles and the key factors in selecting clothes for your life style.
We then get down to the nitty gritty of body shapes (not a tape measure in sight). This part of the course will involve you looking at your overall shape and how clothes sit on your frame.... there is no right or wrong frame - we are all unique. This work is done as part of the group and may require some wearing of swimsuits for a very short time. Tights and thin leggings with a swimsuit would also work. Men you will ideally have some shorts with you. We then look at your style type and how you project your personalities through the clothes you wear. We then look at garments, the cut that best suits your shape and accessories ie: glasses, jewellery. Men if you wear suits for work, please bring one and ladies please bring a typical outfit that you wear for work and both men and ladies do bring an item of clothing that you find difficult to wear so it sits at the back of your wardobe. If we have time we will also look at wardrobe management/planning and of course shopping effectively.
We have lots of fun, learn how to save tons of money and enjoy shopping again. When you get home you will be able to analyze your clothing and plan a workable and wearable wardrobe. No more time-wasting shopping trips and you will also feel good about your appearance.
Andrea Gates has over 12 years experience in the image business. She will advise on colour and style, enabling participants to highlight their individual personalities through what they wear.

We are living in extraordinary times. All around us are signs of breakdown and decay -the old ways of being no longer work for us. Yet there are also signs of rebirth and beauty which we can align ourselves with and realise our potential to change outmoded habits and destructive behaviour. We need to transform ourselves in order to begin the process of transformation in the world around us. In these times we need the support of others of like mind to share the journey into the unknown; to be fellow pilgrims in the search for authenticity and radical aliveness.
We lose our aliveness when we reject the unworthy, shameful, “dangerous” parts of ourselves, when we suppress anger, grief, sexuality, and fear. Once we dare to be our authentic selves, when we honor and accept our shadow, we literally lighten up. From this place of lightness we can see our world with a renewed sensitivity. This renewal represents the possibility for a radical shift in our entire perception. In seizing the courage to change, we can transform ourselves and liberate our potential.
This workshop will use psychotherapy, dance and bodywork, sharing, ritual and healing to authenticate our own needs and desires. We will explore the parameters of our individual maps and create a vision of hope for the future within the supportive framework of a group committed to the nurturing process of reflective honesty, compassionate attention and trust.

We are all born with the freedom to dance. This freedom is innate but can go underground, obscured by the ‘stuff’ of life. During this course we will learn to listen to our body, and to surrender bit by bit to its unique dance. We will dance to gently wake up to our creativity, to love power, ecstasy, acceptance, playfulness and sensuality. We will discover our body loves to dance and find ourselves making moves we never knew we could make.
There will also be space to share our experiences and stories in words so that we can both learn from, and be touched by each other. No previous dance experience is required, just a courage and willingness to practice stepping onto the dance floor and moving with who we are, and how we are, moment to moment.

This work explores the freedom in remembering and being as you are right now in this moment. This simple yet profound approach is about being at home in your innate juicy self. Awareness of your body, sexuality, creativity, heart and spirit allows you the luxury and deep pleasure of participating fully in your own existence. Through art, massage, movement, tantric exercises and inquiry you will explore becoming a space through which your presence, sexuality and passion for life can flow.
You will:
• deepen your understanding of sexuality and relationships
• expand your ease and understanding of the deep masculine and deep feminine
• increase your energy and body awareness and more effortlessly engage in being alive
• refine your clarity about what is real and valuable to you
• explore your innate creative sexual power
It is simple.
There is nothing to change.
It is not about what "would be", "could be", "should be", but what is real.
It is not about self-improvement.
It is about freedom.

During this course, you’ll learn that when you start seeing life as a game, it suddenly becomes easier and you’re more likely to win the prizes you’re after.
Andrew will help you determine what you want out of life. Then, layer upon layer, he’ll work together with you to literally transform you into the person who can confidently create, pursue, and maximise those dreams. You’ll learn to let go of any limiting beliefs that are keeping you from creating the life you want. He’ll help you erase misconceptions you may have that dictate your current life experiences. He’ll help you understand the rules you currently live by, and encourage you to challenge them.
By seeing life as a game, you’ll start taking failure and challenges less seriously – you’ll begin to embrace failure rather than avoid it at all costs. You’ll discover how to ask for what you want and say no to what you don't. You’ll begin to laugh at what holds you back and move forward with a new found zest for life.
Andrew will use fun games, processes and exercises (some based on NLP practices) which allow you to discover how you can participate more and feel like the game of life is something that you can fully involve yourself in (and play to such a degree that you get exactly what you want).
Andrew Risner has been described as ‘The Big Man with Huge Solutions’. He left a successful career as M.D. of a finance company to help people release their untapped potential. An NLP Master Practitioner and Hypnotherapist, Andrew was also stress consultant on BBC1’s Heaven & Earth programme.

Spending several years performing stand up comedy taught him that most challenges in life are not difficult but merely uncomfortable and it is a willingness to feel uncomfortable that separates the players from the spectators in life.

Vinyasa Yoga is a more dynamic form of Hatha Yoga, (Vinyasa means breath movement synchronization). This gentle, flowing, circular, healing and meditative exercise follows all of the basic principles of longer T’ai Chi forms but takes only five minutes to perform. T’ai Chi exercise is the four thousand year old Chinese art and science of meditation in motion. It is unique among exercises in that you get better at it as you get older. Singing, Songwriting Sun 12 - Sat 25 Sep 2010 AT11
Tsivi creates a very warm and supportive environment, encouraging even the shyest of people to participate.
This will be a unique and inspiring experience, developing your understanding of the creative process and combining thorough warm up exercises, and musical theory with fun practical exercises to foster learning and creativity.
Tsivi Sharett, a London jazz musician whose classical training echoes through her work, composes, performs with her band the TS Ensemble, and leads workshops.
Although the structure of the class will ultimately stay the same - starting with a gentle warm-up to raise your core temperature, progress to the asanas & vinyasa flowing movement sequences - and then cool down and a brief meditation/affirmations to finish - no two classes will be identical as Kym will take into consideration who is in the class and what participants needs are on that day.
Classes are usually physically challenging the ethos is that if you work hard during the class it ensures that you have to relax during the meditation at the end! Laughter is encouraged during the class, as the experience should be a fun one.
Kym works largely with breath and depending on the desires of the group there may be some chanting, a variety of forms of meditation (including a chakra and a moving/walking meditation) and partner-work where possible. Classes also involve the use of blocks and straps. Depending on the level of expertise their may be inversions and more challenging poses. If you are an experienced yogi you may be challenged to try things in new ways to ensure you're not operating on 'auto-pilot' rather than being present and in the 'now'.
Since yoga is intended to unite body and mind Kym will also challenge your brain so that you can become aware of what you're thinking and when you're thinking it - and hopefully even why you're thinking it.
Kym Suttle has been teaching yoga since 1996 and his style is influenced by his years as a dance teacher (he has an MA in Dance Studies & Choreography).

Windsurfing is one of the most exhilarating sports in the world. Atsitsa is one of the few places where you can learn windsurfing at your own pace in a friendly, social and supportive environment.
The course will cover the basic skills required to be able to sail away from the beach, turn around and return safely in light winds.
Fundamental skills will be reinforced so that learning is integrated. The idea being that you will be able to remember and re-use what you have learnt at a later date. Students will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and safety. There will be some partner work in the beginning to reinforce understanding. The classes will be interactive, and challenging in an enjoyable way.
Learning to windsurf does take energy and input but is also incredibly rewarding as your results will have been 'earned'.
Wetsuits are supplied for the early and late season sessions. Some wetsuit shoes are available, though if you have your own it would be a good idea to bring them with you. Beginners classes will run every session. On 2 week sessions whenever possible there will also be an improver’s class in the 2nd week. A small degree of water confidence is an advantage (i.e. being able to swim 25 yards).
Mark Gunston has been teaching skiing and watersports for 29 years in Europe and the US. He has been teaching in Atsitsa since 1996. He is also a qualified Life Coach.
Dancing the Rainbow Sat 25 Sep - Sat 2 Oct 2010 AT12
Elemental Dance
“Skyros Wind
My body is shaped by the wind
Twist of tendon
Red and gold icon
One particular wave”
We will go on a creative and colourful journey through the elemental landscape of the body inspired by the landscape of the Island and its art. We will use a combination of creative, improvised movement, voice, music, creative writing and art work so you can work from your own strengths and try new things. Any fears or anxieties can be used as part of this creative, holistic process. The course is suitable for all levels of experience.
Dancing the Rainbow
This tried and tested holistic-creative movement practice uses the chakra system and a variety of tools (movement, voice, toning, sound, colour, writing and artwork) To bring you on a creative and healing journey through the colours of your soul. In a safe and gentle space you are encouraged to try new ways of moving and being, replenish your energy and re-connect with the playful, spontaneous you. Any anxieties and fears are included as part of the process and Lani will support you to find new and creative ways to work with these issues.
Voice
Discover the power, resonance, healing and creative potential in your voice. We will use toning, breath, energy work and movement to explore your creative voice and the ways you can use your voice as a healing instrument working alone or with a group. Any fears and anxieties are used as part of the process and if you were ever told that you couldn’t sing now is the time to prove them wrong!
Lani O’Hanlon, co-creator and author of Dancing the Rainbow, is a voice and movement artist, writer and hoistic therapist with over 15 years experience as a director, teacher/trainer and creative mentor.
Being ‘creative’ is as much about approach as it is technique and is coupled with an awareness of selection, lighting and composition. After a short time, you’ll find yourself out in the countryside, on the beach or walking through Skyros village, looking at your surroundings through different eyes; the eyes of an artist.
We’ll investigate aspects of Ideas Generation, Composition and Materials Control, embracing an itinerary that is a mix of looking, painting, drawing, poetry and easy strolls - aiming to arrive at outstanding scenic locations where you’ll be guided through a range of techniques using media such as watercolour, charcoal, pastel and ink.
Kel will provide individual guidance and group advice, feedback and analysis of your progress and work which will help you to gain confidence and experience, building on your ability to establish a personal style and way of working creatively.
The course is designed for those who may have been put off drawing and painting years ago or for anyone who would like to extend their own creative ability. No previous experience is expected but those who have a good level of understanding will also find the course of value.
Singing, Songwriting Sat 25 Sep - Sat 2 Oct 2010 AT12
Tsivi creates a very warm and supportive environment, encouraging even the shyest of people to participate.
